1/28/201175% shooting for UCLA, 40% for Kentucky, that's the story of this game as the Bruins ran away with this one 80-50 in Pauley P. UCLA C #42 score a career high 22 points on 10/11 shooting as the big men from Westwood dominated the paint on both ends with 68 PIP and 24 defensive rebounds. To add to the damage UCLA shot a respectable 58% (campared to their disasterous normal25%) from the charity stripe.Kentucky had 3 players in double figures (SG 13, SF 12 and C 10) but they were a combined 14/32 from the floor campared to the top 3 from UCLA (SF 12, C 22, PF 12) who were 20/23 from the floor. Bruins took an 18 point lead to the half time locker room and pushed it to 30 points when the horn sounded. Wildcats will try to find answers when the series swings back to the midwest for the next game in Rupp.
1/25/2011It was a dark night in Westwood from the onset as the Wildcats turn the ball over on their first possession and the show began. UCLA out ran Kentucky and racked up 18 fast break points to Uk's 6. The bruins also won the rebounding war 25-16 and only turned the ball over 4 time to Kentucky's 9. Both teams shot the ball well but UCLA won that battle too, shooting a blistering 60%, while the Wildcats managed 52%. If not for poor free throw shooting (38% - 6/16) the beating might have been worse. It was a scorers game as both teams put up the highest point total in the series so far and the highest totals for both the winning and losing teams to date. But the "BIG" story of the game was written in the paint, the edge went to UCLA 58 points to UK's 24. UCLA Center, #42 had a break out game with 18 points (on 8 of 11 shooting), 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block and received Player of the Game honors. Series heads back to Rupp where the Wildcats are 2-2 against the Bruins.
1/22/2011UCLA hosted this game that turned out to be a battle in Beverly Hills. Tigh game throughout but pulled off by the Bruins in the highest combined point total in the history of the rivalry. 60-54. Wildcats made a push late in the second half but UCLA held them off and won the free throw contest down the stretch.
1/14/2011Kentucky pulls out a stunner in PA, coming back for 14 point down early in the second half. The Wildcat defense combined with timely 3 point shooting helped them eat into the Bruin lead and ultimatly take the game. Wildcats are on a 2 game winnign streak after a home court blowout of the Bruins in their prevous game a Rupp Arena. UCLA will look to bounce back in their next meeting.
