Summary:
UCLA came into Rupp looking to continue their dominating play from the previous meeting with Kentucky in Pauley, but the first half proved to be an even match. But, the second half belonged to Kevin Love and the Bruins who won going away 72-53. Love had a perfect night from the floor, going 12 for 12 on field goals for 25 points and added 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Westbrook chipped in with 16 points, 4 Reb, 4 Ast and 3 steals. The point guard match up was a stalemate with Bradley going for 9 points for the Wildcats and Collison dropping 10 points for UCLA, both with 6 assists. In a losing cause Crawford hit on 5 of 12 from the floor to lead all Wildcats with 13, and Meeks and Stevenson both ended with 10 points. The story of the game was shooting. UCLA shot a whopping 75% from the floor to a mere 43% for Kentucky (52-30 points in the paint in favor of UCLA). The bruins also hit on 50% from deep range, while the Cats were 32%. Total rebounding was even, but UCLA won the offensive glass 11-3. UCLA now improves their record over rival Kentucky to 11-3.
